Steve Adams, King City City manager, announced on May 7 he will retire before the end of the year.
“Thank you so much to the city council, staff and community for your tremendous support and partnership in our efforts to improve the quality of life in the community during the time I have worked here,” he said.
Adams has held the position for nearly a decade. He took over in a difficult time, right after the police department leaders were arrested in an illegal car-towing scheme affecting over 200 people, and resulted in $1.2 million paid out in legal settlements.
Besides turning around the small city's police department, Adams helped the city came out of bankruptcy. He also pushed to revitalize King City’s downtown and encouraged community members to get more involved in their community.
Adams has committed to a smooth transition process as a successor is appointed. The City Council will discuss the process to fill the city manager position on Tuesday, May 27.
