UPDATE: Dr. Gary Klugman is out of custody after posting $1 million bail. Authorities say the reason why bail was set so high was because they fear there was a possibility of him fleeing the county.
A Salinas dentist was arrested this morning at his office after authorities say they found hundreds of child pornography images archived in his work computers.
Dr. Gary Klugman, 65, worked at Blanco Circle Dental Care, but following a citizen's report to authorities, a month-long investigation and the discovery of the images, he was arrested and taken into custody on a $1 million bail Tuesday morning.
Klugman is facing a charge for possessing child pornography. Authorities maintain it does not appear any of his patients were victims of any crime.
For two years, Klugman had hosted a free dental care day, which offered adults their choice for a filling, an extraction or a cleaning. That event was scheduled to occur on Feb. 5, but after today's news, it remains unclear if it will be held.
