The San Bernardino Police Department confirmed via social media on Wednesday that as many as three suspects are wanted in a mass shooting that left at least 14 dead and 14 injured.
Ambulance crews treated wounded people in the middle of Waterman Avenue, a major north-south street through the city, which lies about an hour's drive east of Los Angeles, according to a New York Times report.
The attack, according to the New York Times, is believed to have occurred in a cluster of office building that include the offices of Inland Regional Services that offers services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
A San Bernardino police spokeswoman told the Los Angeles Times that there "are fatalities," but was unsure of how many people had been killed. She described the suspects as heavily armed, possibly wearing body armor.
Police are now searching for a black sport utility vehicle that fled the scene of a mass shooting.
For updated information on the shooting follow reports from Los Angeles Times, New York Times and Washington Post.
