The Soberanes Fire, which was started by an illegal campfire on July 22, has ravaged 100,428 acres as of Monday morning.
According a press release from the U.S. Forest Service, the active fire has continued to push towards the southeast and is now only a few miles from the Tassajara Zen Center, albeit separated by several ridge lines.
Crews are working on structure protection of the Partington Ridge community in Big Sur and acknowledged potential fire danger in Arroyo Seco.
An addition 57 firefighters have been added to the personnel since Sept. 3,, swelling the work force to 1,130.
Officials are expecting full containment by the end of the month.
