A 14-year-old boy who was stabbed in the neck last week has died, marking Salinas' fifth murder of the year.
Ricardo Ruiz, a Salinas resident, died at Natividad Medical Center after being taken off life support May 21, according to the Salinas Police Department.
Ruiz was stabbed on May 17 while walking near North Madeira St. and East Alisal St. with a group of friends, police say. Two girls confronted the group and questioned Ruiz's gang affiliation, leading to the stabbing.
