Last summer, 20,000 came out to the inaugural First City Festival at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center (The inaugural First City Festival showcases a new breed of rock and roll.) Goldenvoice announced this morning that the 2-day event's sophomore incarnation has been set to take place on Aug. 23 and 24.
FCF's debut featured two full days of indie-hipster-boutique-electro power, from Passion Pit and Father John Misty to Modest Mouse and MGMT—more than 30 music acts on three stages—along with amusement rides and adequate concessions (FCF 2013 blog coverage.)
The event will surely become a longstanding Monterey institution if it continues to draw the number of folks it did in 2013. Hopefully, this year's lineup will warrant a large turnout.
