Quick Bites: Beer burp, new Dametra, world record garlic eating and a three-burger day.

Back when I ate my way into the doctor's office trying every burger in Monterey County, one of the best I tried appeared at Edgar's in Quail Lodge (620-8910).

Now they're doing one of the more over-the-top promotions to come across my screen in a while, for National Burger Day.

Sunday, May 28, those crazy and hungry enough to eat three burgers (and post a photo on Instagram or Facebook tagging Quail and using #DineQuail) receive a $25 Quail Lodge & Golf Club Gift Card and shot at a stay in a deluxe guest room, inclusive of dinner and breakfast.

They've already scheduled out a potential carnivore carnival playlist: first track the Covey's breakfast sausage burger, then Edgar's for the truffle and/or house burger then the relatively new Covey Bar & Deck for beef sliders with aged cheddar and caramelized onions.

• Dametra will add another location to its growing dynasty at The Dunes in Marina, reportedly near Smash Burger—though not for a good six months at least, as the building is still under construction. "It's going to be exciting to be in a growing part of town," says co-owner Faisal Nimri. Dametra is planning a beer-and-wine bar next-door to boot.

• Early-bird tickets are on sale for Eat Drink SF, which includes a “taco knockdown” with more than 15 chefs, grand tastings and more.

• Production at 25 of the top 50 Brewers Association-defined craft breweries didn’t grow last year, according new data released today by the trade organization. That said, a lot of insiders have observed the market getting saturated.

• Valley Hills Deli & BBQ brings on a robust fourth-anniversary celebration 5-7pm Saturday, June 10 ($35, 293-8608).

• This May 27-29 and June 3-4, Great America, of all places, does a Red, White & Brews Festival, a so-called "Americana celebration of food, drink and fun." Highlights include food specials, desserts, a Northern California array of microbrews and wines, live music and fireworks.

• Cheesecake Dreamations is opening its new Northridge Mall kiosk Saturday, May 27, near Starbucks. Owner Melissa Yeater will be kicking things off with her most popular mini flavors: caramel pecan, chocolate, Oreo, snickerdoodle and key lime ($3 each, 6 for $12, 12 for $22.

• Pacific Grove touchstone Toasties Cafe (373-7543) sold to Timothy Feeney. I'll have more on any changes if he decides to return my call.

• There are some updates on the Berkeley craft beer maker Fieldwork's plan to open a taproom in downtown Monterey. 

• Poke House Cannery Row opened quietly last week. More on the blog tomorrow morning. 

• Morgan wine dinner with Dan Lee happens at Gusto Wednesday, June 28 ($75, 899-5825).

• The Gilroy Garlic Festival is seeking applicants for the first-ever Great Gilroy Garlic Eating Contest Friday, July 28. Reps from Guinness World Records will be on hand to see if anyone can crack the record of 36 in a minute. 

• It is with great sadness that Segovia's announced the sudden passing of its friend and longtime bartender Chris Vaughn, best known for an easygoing manner, a genuine soul and his skills as a chef.
