Two words: It's time.

Poke Time (655-1823), from the partners behind popular Sushi Time in Seaside, has opened at 484 Lighthouse Ave. in New Monterey.

The food—and the setting—are simple, fresh, clean and satisfying.

A regular bowl of sashimi-grade raw fish with three scoops of things like scallop, octopus and spicy tuna goes for $9.99, larges come with four scoops for $11.50, and extra scoops run $1.50.

I had friendly co-owner Jinhee Park put together a bowl of her own invention and she delivered and then some with a pyramid of brown rice, mixed greens, edamame, tobiko, cucumber, avocado, jalapeño, corn and seaweed salad with scoops of salmon, albacore, shrimp and imitation crab ($11.50).

Hours are 11am-3pm and 4:30-8:30pm Monday-Friday and noon-3pm and 4:30-8:30pm Saturday (closed Sunday).
