Grand Prix

Bernahl lists the classic grand tastings as must-do endeavor.

Because things weren't quite atmospheric enough at Pebble Beach Food & Wine, coming up March 31-April 3, they're adding a party on a plane.

The Jet Suite Culinary Heights Imperial Package will load a private jet, leaving from Los Angeles, full of foie gras, caviar and fancy Champagne.

A number of L.A.’s hottest chefs—Michael Voltaggio, Neal Fraser, Jason Neroni, Rory Hermann, Timothy Hollingsworth and Walter Manzke—will prep the goodies and be there onboard.

Touchdown in Monterey meets chauffeured Lexus vehicles that zip over to four days of luxury food and drink.

When asked to list nine events that jump out to him for year nine of PBFW, founder and big cheese David Bernahl doesn't hesitate to spotlight that trip, probably the most exclusive element of a rather exclusive weekend.

Here are the other eight he pointed to, with his notes directly transposed here:

• Live streaming Champagne Tattinger and Caviar tasting to Seven Lions in Chicago with Monterey’s very own Alpana Singh as our onsite host in Chi Town!!

A crazy cool Lynx BBQ party series on the ocean at the Intercontinental featuring Fabio Viviani on Friday night and Guy Fieri on Saturday night.

• Having Jerome Bocuse here for the very first time to cook with two of the most insane lineup of chefs ever for our Imperial Dinners on Friday and Saturday night. Cooking with Team USA on Friday with the likes of Dave Beran from Next Restaurant Chicago and Gavin Kaysen from Spoon & Stable, and on Saturday night with Daniel Boulud.

• An amazing sneak peak dinner of Christopher Kostow’s new Napa restaurant concept The Charter Oak.

• A once in a lifetime Lexus Culinary Masters seminar and tasting with Daniel Boulud and Dean Fearing with Brats and Beer!

• Local superstar and beloved cheese monger Kent Torrey partnering with Sequoia Grove for a killer Cabernet and Cheese tasting.

• Big Bottle Bubbles champagne: a tasting from all large format superstar sparkling brands.

• This one is obvious…The Lexus Grand Tasting. While we have produced this epic event for 9 years…it only gets better and better each year. There is no better way to travel the culinary globe and mix and match an unquantifiable number of taste sensations quite like the Lexus Grand Tasting.
