The biggest splash in local beer and food of the last year—the formidable and flavorful Alvarado Street Brewery & Grill (655-BEER)—has gotten bigger, with the introduction of lunch.

The collaborative combinations from Exec Chef Chef Aaron Haas and Owner-Brewer J.C. Hill are now served 11:30am-2:30pm daily.

Dinner hours remain 5pm to close (usually 10 or 10:30pm). From 2:30pm to 5pm the kitchen is closed but the beer still flows.

“Suggested beer pairings” accompany each section of the menu.

Check out some tasting notes and more than 30 pictures of the former movie theater with the piece that introduced Alvarado Street Brewery to the community.

Most of the dinner menu is available at lunch, with a few additions and subtractions.

All of the grill's wood-fired pizzas—including the popular house-cured duck ham ($16) and butcher’s bacon and egg ($14)—are available.

Same goes for the lineup of salads like the Serendipity kale salad ($10), ribboned salad ($9) with cucumber, zucchini, squash, carrots and thyme, and the sautéed seasonal greens salad ($7) with kale, chard, shallots, fennel, pickled strawberries and grilled Castroville artichoke.

Items like the market fish tacos ($15), oven-roasted open-face chicken sandwich ($13) and French onion beer soup ($7) are exclusive to the lunch menu.
