Leaders in both major political parties claim November will bring a Blue Wave or a Red Wave, either flipping the power balance in Washington or cementing the GOP’s stronghold. Monterey County voters will weigh in on one national election this Nov. 6, with Democratic Congressman Jimmy Panetta up for re-election after his first term, facing off against Carmel CPA Ron Kabat. (Kabat, who has no party preference, has run unsuccessfully twice before, against Panetta’s predecessor, Sam Farr.)
But mostly Monterey County voters will make choices in dozens of local positions for city councils, school boards, water boards and fire districts. In the lead-up to the Nov. 6 election, we'll publish stories in print and online about many of those races. Look for them here.
The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 22, and you can do so at montereycountyelections.us.
