Soledad Police stop leads to high-speed chase and juvenile arrest near Highway 101.

A routine traffic stop in Soledad escalated into a high-speed pursuit leading to the arrest of a male juvenile from the city, according to the Soledad Police Department.

Around 9:20pm, on the evening of Friday, Aug. 28, a Soledad Police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle near the intersection of Monterey Street and Third Street. The driver failed to yield, leading to a chase.

The pursuit ended near the intersection of Highway 101 and Soledad Prison Road when the vehicle became disabled, allowing officers to take the juvenile into custody without further incident. A police investigation revealed that the juvenile was operating the vehicle without permission from the registered owner, who reported the car as stolen.

Following his arrest, the juvenile was booked and transported to Monterey County Juvenile Hall. The juvenile faces multiple charges related to the incident.

In response to the incident, the Soledad Police Department issued a reminder to all motorists about the dangers of failing to yield to law enforcement.

“We also encourage parents and guardians to stay involved and aware of their children’s activities. Know where your children are, who they are with, and what they are doing, particularly during evening and nighttime hours,” said the Soledad Police Department in a statement. “Open communication and active supervision can play an important role in keeping our youth and community safe.”
