Miss Bonnie

For people who believe in angels, demons and spirits, it may come as no surprise that some people in this world claim to have the power to communicate with them. Bonnie Naftzger, whose stage name is Miss Bonnie, is one of them. Miss Bonnie clarifies that she does not connect with spirits, just guardian angels, and she says their messages never offer judgment, only pure joy and love.

She’s successfully worked as a medium for about 30 years, garnering nationwide recognition and working for high-profile clients including actors Adam West and Peter Marshall. After years of full-time work as a medium, she says she has mastered the skills and that anyone can learn to do it. Usually, she does angel readings via phone delivered through her soothing voice, but this week she visits the Fox Theater in Salinas, where she’ll talk about her supernatural abilities and conduct a few readings in person. Cynics may dismiss her job as a scam, but Miss Bonnie claims she doesn’t do it for the money – just the mission to bring people guidance. She spoke with the Weeklyand shared her thoughts on the afterlife, and what it feels like to communicate with guardian angels.

Weekly: In a nutshell, how do you do what you do?

Naftzger: We are trained to shut down the left brain, which allows us to wait, listen and repeat. Everyone can do what I do, which is why I teach it. It’s just a matter of training – a lot of training. I have been training for 15 years and have been doing the work for 30.

The left brain carries the MasterCard, Visa, American Express, where’s my laundry? Who shot John? The right side has all the good stuff. When I shut the left side down, I can hear everything that I need to hear to help you.

How is it that you can read people by phone?

It’s all the same. There’s no one that can’t be read by a medium because the medium goes out there for the information to reach the spirit, so no matter what a person wears, no matter what a person says or does, if they inquire, the medium goes out there and gets the information, which is there either way. Psychics work with the ego. You would walk away impressed with them, maybe, but with me, you walk away with a sense of direction.

How do you know you are listening to guardian angels?

It’s a thought, I don’t hear anything. So if you think, “Hmm, maybe I should write an article about child safety,” and a couple of days later, a kid on a bike falls off and something else happens to him and you go: “Wow, I was just thinking about that, I was going to write this article.” That’s them. They gave you that initial thought. There is no music written, no books written, without them.

How can I communicate with my guardian angel?

So you shut down your left side of the brain, you ask your angels to be present, you pose the question, you take a breath in and out and the first thought – it’s always the first thought – that’s them. But then here comes the second thought, that’s the left brain coming in. Always go with your first thought.

So, there’s no such thing as a gut feeling?

No, because you are not alone.

Do you ever come across evil when reaching out to angels?

No, because I have been assigned a gatekeeper. All mediums have and should have a gatekeeper. It’s like the bouncer at a club.

Angels are only love and light. The worst thing I have ever heard them say is “Oops.”

Do you believe in God?

Yes.

What is your religion?

If someone falls you pick them up. My belief system is rooted in the existence of a universal light source that is unconditional love and that is unattached to our free will choices here, but ever loving and ever forgiven.

What are your thoughts on the afterlife?

I can tell you what is reported to me is that there’s this tremendous feeling of joy, the reunion with those who have gone before us, the total ability to create with your mind what you want. If we want a house, we have to go to Lowe’s; if they want a house, they think house and they have it. They can think themselves anything they want. An ethereal condition of a soul without a body.
