The Central Coast has officially entered a 'heat wave.'

The Central Coast often gets its sunniest weather in the fall, but rarely does it get as warm as it's expected to get this week. 

On Monday morning, Sept. 30, the National Weather Service issued a heat wave advisory for the entire Central Coast, with temperatures expected to reach into the 90s in places away from the coast. 

The hottest days are expected to be Tuesday and Wednesday, when Salinas is projected to have a daily high of 90 degrees and in King City, 98 degrees. Monterey, meanwhile, will see highs in the upper 70s. 

During those days, the announcement says there will be a high risk for heat-related illnesses in interior parts of the county, and a moderate risk for those on the coast. 

The announcement adds there's a possibility the warning could be extended another day or two, particularly in inland areas.
