Planned Parenthood Seaside office closed

The Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Seaside office is cordoned off with caution tape after a flood in mid-February, 2024, caused it to be shut down.

A flood in the Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Seaside office in February resulted in a temporary shutdown of the clinic. Patients who have relied on the location for a wide array of medical services will have to travel to Salinas or elsewhere for in-person visits until the clinic reopens, possibly in mid-May.

The flooding inside the building at 625 Hilby Ave. occurred on Feb. 14, requiring a "complete remediation," according to a statement from a PPMM spokesperson. It's unclear what caused the flooding.

Some phone and telehealth services may be available to avoid traveling to the next closest office at 316 N. Main St., Salinas. There's also a clinic in Watsonville. More info is available by calling 877-855-7526.

The Seaside location is the only one in Monterey County that offers in-clinic abortions up to 20 weeks of pregnancy—the Salinas clinic only offers medication abortions up to 11 weeks, according to the Planned Parenthood website. The next closest location that offers in-clinic abortions is in San Jose.

Other services available at the Seaside and Salinas clinics include birth control, gender-affirming care, HIV services, pregnancy testing and planning, prenatal and postpartum care, STD testing and care, vaccinations and wellness check-ups.
