Hillary and Bill are not the only power couple out there looking to establish a political dynasty.
Luis Alejo and Karina Cervantez Alejo, both Democrats, have already dominated Watsonville city politics for years, and now they're looking to pass the torch of Alejo's assembly seat to Cervantez as Alejo terms out in 2016.
Cervantez Alejo was elected to Watsonville City Council in 2012, and served as mayor in 2014. She's current a City Council member, a board member of the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board and represents 18 Monterey Bay-area cities on the board of the California League of Cities.
Gilroy City Councilman Peter Leroe-Muñoz, also a Democrat, is eying the District 30 Assembly seat as well.
Meanwhile, with his third Assembly term ending next year, Alejo has formed a committee to fundraise for a state Senate campaign to replace Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, who terms out in 2018.
Alejo is also considering a 2016 challenge to County Supervisor Fernando Armenta, a three-term incumbent.
Alejo and Cervantez currently live in Watsonville, but would move to Salinas to run for office within the district.
