A Salinas man was detained on Tuesday morning, July 29 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The man was on the street with his family on Rider Street when ICE agents detained him around 9:30am, according to a statement from the Solidarity Network, a volunteer-run group of legal observers who respond to immigration-related cases.
“It appears ICE didn’t know who he was. ICE seemed to be questioning people randomly in the area when he was apprehended,” the Solidarity Network account reads. (A random detention is when someone is apprehended without a warrant or apparent cause.)
The group reports there were six ICE agents in two cars, a Nissan and Hyundai, both unmarked.
The Solidarity Network cautioned residents to be mindful of their surroundings: “Immigration officials are potentially still in the area.”
ICE officers did not immediately respond to requests for information.

Be careful what you believe. Something smells a little bit fishy in this report. There was nothing in that report that said how the men were identified as ICE agents.
