The high cost of housing continues to be an existential problem for communities across the California coast, and Monterey County is far from an exception.
Forbes Magazine published a list Nov. 28 that ranks the 500 most expensive postal codes in the country, and Monterey County has four neighborhoods on that list.
Most expensive locally is the 93953 ZIP code in Pebble Beach, which ranked 69 on the list with a 2016 median home sale price of $3,117,624.
Coming in at 122 in the rankings was the 93921 ZIP code in Carmel, which has a median price of $2,375,692. Another ZIP code in Carmel, 93923, ranked 143, with a median price of $2,199,383.
Rounding out the local list is the 93924 ZIP code in Carmel Valley, which had a $1,274,385 median sale price in 2016.

[yawn]When will these high priced areas start bearing the burden of the homeless? Instead of having all these charity balls they need to have the balls to start having spaces for the homeless to park their cars. Monterey County Supervisors want to keep passing the buck to all other cites but the most wealthy. Keep your eye out for the new trend of homeless living in cars and THE COUNTY placing them in Marina.
