American Tin Cannery hotel from Monterey Bay (copy)

Drawings for the proposed hotel at the American Tin Cannery submitted in 2019, shown from the vantage point of Monterey Bay.

The public comment period on the draft environmental impact report for the proposed hotel resort at the American Tin Cannery in Pacific Grove is coming to an end at 5pm on Monday, Sept. 28.

The comment period was extended from 45 days to 60, to give people more time to review the document and hotel plans, which include a 225-room hotel in two wings, a restaurant, lounge areas, meeting space, spa, fitness center and approximately 20,000 square feet of retail space along Ocean View Boulevard and Eardley Avenue. The retail spaces would be inside the existing ATC structure, save for a cutout courtyard facing Ocean View.

The plans are available online. Hard copies are available for checkout through the P.G. Police Department lobby, since City Hall is closed to the public since the start of the pandemic.

Comments can be mailed to City Hall or sent by email to Rob Mullane, the city's consulting planner.

See the attached document for more info on how to check out hard copies or how to submit comments.

A small display of visual depictions of the project, posted at the corner of Eardley/Sloat Avenues and on Ocean View Blvd. only went up this afternoon, after much public pushing.... 4 days before the close of Public Comments for the DEIR!

They should have had Story Poles and tagging for the 79 trees they want to take-out!

This is another Failure to adhere to any reasonable process to inform the Public of a Massive project! They seem entirely unapologetic and arrogant in their methods to stifle awareness to the average citizen. This is a project of such a massive size and regional impact that this stifling of public awareness is unconscionable, and I'm pretty sure, illegal! This project process is as flawed as the last time it raised it's ugly head.

So much back-door-dealing has and is going on, that this actually needs some really in-depth reporting! Please!

appears to be grossly under-parked for a hotel. i guess they are expecting people to walk or take public transportation to get to the hotel
