I. Brand & Family Wines gives Carmel Valley another top tasting room.

Carmel Valley wine country continues to boom.

The increase in quantity is accompanied by an increase in quality.

I. Brand & Family Wines (359-9834) just opened its own tasting room in a dense pocket of great tasting spaces at 19 E. Carmel Valley Road, where (west to east) Cima Collina, Parsonage, Holman, Chesebro, Joyce and I. Brand sit within a cork's throw.

That means the tiny village is up to 22 tasting rooms, and wider Carmel Valley 24.

At I. Brand, two different tasting flights include four wines.

The first ($10) features blends like Le P'tit Paysan Jack's Hill Chardonnay and Cab-based Claret.

The other flight ($15) does single vineyard stuff like La Marea Grenache and I. Brand Family Cabernet Franc from Ray Franscioni's Bayly Ranch ($15).

Fees are waived with a two-bottle purchase. Hours are noon-6pm Wednesday-Sunday.

I. Brand's wines were long featured at Trio Carmel (250-7714), which provided a timely incubator for a small family winery.

Now that I. Brand needs and has more space, he'll transition out at Trio, where another small local winery will ultimately fill the vacated slot.

Back in the valley, given the opening of Testarossa Winery (298-7726) at 1 E. Carmel Valley Road on Black Friday, that's two recent—and major—additions to a wine trail already flush with standout options. (Hours there are 11am-5pm daily, until 6pm Friday-Sunday.)

And they precede the debut of Joyce Vineyards relocated and super-sized new tasting room next to Testarossa, along with an additional neighboring wine bar complete with a fountain patio and boche ball.

That's a generous pour of possibilities.
