Pacchetti Dog Park group fetches more community support.

Local dog owners have been working their tails off to realize their vision of turning Seaside's Pacchetti Park into a functional off-leash dog park.

This Saturday, March 28, they're hosting a clean-up day at Pacchetti Dog Park on Kimball and Noche Buena avenues, starting at 9am. Bring rakes, shovels, gloves and wheelbarrows. 

Last month, the group made a leap forward when the city's Board of Architectural Review approved their dog park design plans. The layout includes fencing, a water fountain, picnic tables and two off-leash areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs.

The group, fundraising under the umbrella nonprofit Friends of Seaside Parks, has raised enough money to complete the fencing, according to group spokeswoman Becky Stofer.

But they're still nosing around for money to cover the rest of the construction. A few months back, they made a pitch at an online contest for $100,000, but didn't advance to the finals. Now they're waiting for word back on a grant application to Home Depot, Stofer says.
