A street sweeper made a big mess in Monterey this morning.
At about 7am, according to nearby residents, the driver of a street sweeper somehow lost control of the vehicle as it climbed up Prescott Ave., and it began rolling backwards downhill until is smashed into the kitchen of a home on the corner of Prescott and Cypress Ave.
Miles Martin, who lives nearby, went to see the damage at about 1pm and says no one was injured.
"One resident was standing out front, and one was inside the kitchen shuffling dishes, trying to save what they could," Martin says.
Martin says that while only one home seriously affected, the truck damaged a tree and glanced off a retaining wall on the adjacent property.
