The Wildflower Experience, a triathlon and festival, is back at Lake San Antonio. To host it, the south area of the park will be closed from Thursday, April 30, to Sunday, May 3. (The north area of the lake remains open for public use.)
Athletes will participate in a bicycle, running and swimming race. The event includes a weekend festival, open to all ages, with live entertainment, a beer garden, wine tasting and race clinics.
Boat launches are allowed on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, but shouldn’t access the southern portion of the lake (pictured on the map) since the triathlon will have its swimming competitions from 8am-noon on both days.
California Highway Patrol and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will temporarily shut down roads near the lake during the running and bicycling portions of the race.
Organizers expect the event to draw 6,000 people.
