Long-time Salinas Union High School District Board member, Phillip Tabera, has made it onto the California Fair Political Practices Commission's Dec. 21 agenda.
Addressing both Tabera and his campaign treasurer, Mario Aguiar, the FPPC says Tabera and his 2013 campaign team failed to file three 24-hour reports, detailing contributions of over $2,500. The total proposed fine is $675.
According to Monterey County Elections, his biggest donors at the time of his 2013 campaign was Salinas Valley Leadership Group, which donated $2,500, and the Salinas Valley Federation of Teachers, which contributed multiple times totaling over $5,000.
Rounding out the contributions was the Monterey/Santa Cruz Building and Construction Trades Council, with a $250 contribution.
Tabera has been serving on the board since 2000. He declined to comment on the matter.
The proposed fine is on the FPPC Commission's consent agenda and will be final if passed by commissioners.
