For women whose test results are tied up due to problems at the Mammography Center of Monterey, Montage Health officials are helping a number of them get a second mammogram at no cost through a special fund.
In 2025, the mammography center began falling behind in releasing test results within the 30 day limit according to California law. Some women waited more than 200 days for results. The Monterey County District Attorney's Office filed a civil suit against MCM and owner Randeep "Rod" Singh in February.
Some of the women who waited for long periods, or never received results, were able to receive second mammograms or reimbursements for mammograms through the Sherry Cockle Fund, made possible in part by community support through the Montage Health Foundation.
Help is still available to women who were impacted by the closure of MCM, by calling (831) 658-3989.
The fund was created as a memorial to Sherry Cockle, the longtime assistant to Peter Ueberroth, who died of cancer in 1987.
Meanwhile, Singh, who lives in England, is facing a default judgement against himself and MMC, declared by a judge on July 2. Singh was ordered to pay over $1 million in penalties and restitution.
