The troubles started last year when women who had their mammograms done at the Mammography Center of Monterey became increasingly frustrated because they said it was taking way too long to get their results, sometimes by more than several weeks. By law, results must be provided within 30 days.
The center is now closed and its owner, Randeep “Rod” Singh, a resident of the United Kingdom, is the subject of a civil suit filed by Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine Pacioni, she announced on Friday, Feb. 27.
The complaint alleges that the center failed to provide patients' mammogram results within the 30-day period as required. At least 114 reports were not provided in the required timeframe, according to the DA's Office.
The lawsuit also alleges that Singh violated California’s prohibition against corporate practice of medicine, which requires medical practices to be owned by licensed physicians. Singh is not a physician. (The mammography services were performed by licensed radiologists and radiologic technologists.)
The DA is encouraging patients who have not yet received their mammogram results or other test results to contact the office. Complaints may be submitted by email to ConsumerComplaints@countyofmonterey.gov. Include your name, contact information, the date of your mammogram or other test, a statement indicating that you have not received your results and any other relevant information.
