18-year-old arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing two boys in Moss Landing.

An 18-year-old Greenfield resident was arrested Nov. 6 on suspicion of murdering two boys in Moss Landing.

Detectives from the Monterey County Sheriff's Office arrested Donald William Breeden and booked him into Monterey County Jail on Nov. 6 on two counts of murder with a criminal street gang enhancements.

The shooting on Nov. 2 left 13-year-old Nathaniel "Nate" Flores and 15-year-old Marco Antonio Perez dead, and two people injured.

Of the two injured, one arrived at the hospital themselves with a gunshot wound, said the Sheriff's Office. The other was taken to the hospital from the scene, but their non-life-threatening injuries were not related to the shooting. 

Breeden was arrested after the Sheriff's Office served search warrants at 3pm on Nov. 5 at a Greenfield home on the 900 block of Maple Avenue. They then searched a home in King City at 6pm on the 45000 block of Crown Avenue. 

His bail has been set at $2.035 million. Though he has been arrested, the Sheriff's Office said the investigation was ongoing. 

The Sheriff's Office said detectives were assisted by their SWAT team, Monterey Peninsula Special Response Unit and California State Parks. In a statement, Sheriff Tina Nieto thanked community members who came to the Sheriff's Office with information. 

Nov. 6 would have been Flores' 14th birthday. According to social media posts, he played for the Steinbeck Tigers Football & Cheer’s Midgets football team.
