Tricycle Pizza opens 3pm Thursday, July 21, at Lighthouse and David Avenue in New Monterey. 

The family-run joint with the chicken pesto and fennel sausage-mushroom pies is the latest to make the jump from popular farmers market staple to brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Introductory hours are noon-9:30pm Saturday-Sunday and 3-9pm Wednesday-Thursday.

Pastability's (771-8670), from the same family behind Gino's, has opened its fast casual concept at 11 Acacia St. in Salinas. Think grab-and-go with pastas, sauces and no seats, designed for millennials, owner Ralph Bozzo says, "who want high-quality, fast, somewhat-good-for-you food." Cibo Restaurant (649-8151) had one of the better happy hours going already ($3-$7 food, $3 well drinks, beer and wine 4-7pm daily). Now its “Happier Hours” capitalize on the new sidewalk patio with DJs for that time window every Saturday.

• Organic produce pioneers Earthbound Farms sold from one conglomerate to another as White Wave sold it to French dairy giant Danone SA as part of a larger deal.

The Wharf Marketplace (649-1116) hosts a summer party ($25) 11am-3pm Saturday, July 30, featuring local food vendors like Carmel Honey Company, Friends in Cheeses Jam Co., Carmel Valley Olive Oil Co., Jeffrey’s Best, Baker's Bacon, Boar’s Head, Carmel Berry Co., Alvarado Street Brewery, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Leopold 7, Mad Otter Ale, English Ales Brewery, Golden State Brewery, Reef Point’s Cider, Heller Estate Organic Vineyards, Joyce Vineyards, Carmel Road Winery, Lepe Cellars, Ventana Vineyards, Antle Wines, Wrath Wines, and De Tierra Vineyards, local beer and wine vendors, corn hole, barbecue and live music.

Hyatt Carmel Highlands celebrates its 99th birthday Thursday, July 28, with a private Champagne toast/ribbon-cutting on the new outdoor deck at California Market at Pacific’s Edge.
