On the Move

Phil’s Fish Market & Eatery is on the market.

Known nationally for his cioppino—and for beating celebrity chef Bobby Flay in a “throwdown”—Phil DiGirolamo opened the popular restaurant in 1982 in Moss Landing, moving to a historic downtown Castroville location in 2022.

DiGirolamo also listed his Moss Landing snack shop.

According to Restaurant Realty Company’s Patrick Totah, the Castroville restaurant listing comes with a few conditions crucial to DiGirolamo. For one, the name stays.

“The focus is on finding the right buyer,” Totah says. “It’s important to retain the staff—many have been there for years and they are like family—and continue the legacy.”

In addition to Food Network’s Throwdown, Phil’s had been featured in national and international media, including BBC Travel. The restaurant has repeatedly earned Best Restaurant - North County and Best Cioppino in the Weekly's readers poll.

Restaurant Realty is taking offers on Phil’s Fish Market. The snack shop is listed at $995,000.

Both properties were listed with the agency on Thursday. According to Totah, Phil's will remain open through the sales process.
