1833 Glow

One of the (many) selling points for the Stokes Adobe property: The current format allows for seven different styles of environment, from the bar to the balcony to the library.

There's a new number on the table at 1833.

As in $3,650,000.

The former is the year the landmark Stokes Adobe was built at a most central spot in downtown Monterey.

The latter is how much it will run you to make it your very own.

The Mahoney & Associates Commercial Real Estate flyer describes the 500 Hartnell St. property as "a rare Central California leased investment opportunity," "historic," possessing "seven separate dining areas + outdoor patio" and the beneficiary of $1.2 million in 2010 renovations.

It does not include the restaurant business itself, but instead a 10-year lease with parent company Coastal Luxury Management, which also operates Cannery Row Brewing Company and Pebble Beach Food & Wine.

This happens while new chef Mikey Adams is introducing a promising new menu (more on that here soon) and barkeep Josh Perry is winning awards for his cocktail menu

It also happens as Coastal Luxury partner Charles Banks is warding off a complaint from NBA Hall-of-Famer-to-be Tim Duncan for allegedly defrauding the former pro basketball player, whom he had long served as a financial adviser.

(Side note: I actually tweeted news about Restaurant 1833 being on the market last week. Follow @MontereyMCA for similar of-the-moment observations.)
