Salinas Regional Sports Authority

The Salinas Regional Sports Authority was named the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year by State Sen. John Laird.

Since its founding in 2008, the Salinas Regional Sports Authority has worked to expand recreational opportunities in the region, highlighted by the continued growth of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex.

State Sen. John Laird, D-Santa Cruz, announced the Salinas Regional Sports Authority as the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for Senate District 17.

Laird celebrated the organization during a May 20 ceremony at the State Capitol.

“Organizations like the Salinas Regional Sports Authority play an important role in strengthening our communities and expanding opportunities for young people and families throughout the Salinas Valley,” Laird said. “SRSA has created a space that not only supports recreation and healthy lifestyles but also brings people together and serves as a community resource for the broader region. I’m proud to recognize their work as Senate District 17’s Nonprofit of the Year.”

The complex sees roughly 11,000 weekly visitors from across Monterey County and the Bay Area, who take part in tournaments and other activities.

“This recognition is a tremendous honor for the Salinas Regional Sports Authority and for the entire community that has helped bring the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex to life,” said Jonathan De Anda, general manager of the Salinas Regional Sports Authority.

While soccer remains the focus, the complex offers other programming including flag football, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee. Future plans include adding sand courts, a BMX pump track, skate park and multi-sport courts.
