Mi Tierra Mercado y Taqueria to reopen in Seaside after years of delays.

Longtime Seaside favorite Mi Tierra, shuttered since 2022, is finally set to reopen at 11am on Friday, June 12, with all of the items and options beloved by community members. It also has some new additions, including a walk-in cooler with a wide variety of produce, new salsas, a panaderia and an outdoor dining patio. 

Since Mi Tierra closed for renovations, General Manager Maria Esquivel says she has been constantly bombarded with questions from friends and neighbors about the delayed reopening, so she is particularly eager for Seasiders to see all the changes. 

“We are really excited for the community to come in and see how different it looks,” Esquivel says. “We really did everything for the community in the way that we thought about the layout. We didn’t mess too much with the taqueria. That’s already a staple in Seaside.” 

Esquivel says that the reopening has been delayed for various reasons, citing difficulties with PG&E, among other challenges. 

“We were trying to reopen last week but it’s always one thing or another,” she says. 

Esquivel took the Weekly on a tour of the new and improved digs, where she pointed out that the market side of Mi Tierra now has an expanded frozen section and meat department and stressed that the staff’s main focus is providing exemplary customer service. 

“Whatever you want, we have it,” Esquivel says. “Something that we do in our stores is that we cater to all of the customers' requests so if they want a specific item or meat cut a certain way, we are more than glad to do that for them.”

Esquivel mentioned that the Seaside location at Broadway Avenue and Fremont Boulevard was the first location of the chain so the owners wanted to get everything right before reopening to the public. 

“This location is deep in their hearts,” Esquivel says. “They really went all out on everything.”
