Woman found dead in Walmart parking lot identified.

A woman whose decaying body was recently found inside a vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot in North Salinas has been identified as 22-year-old Lauren Moss.

Walmart security found Moss dead inside the parked vehicle with tinted windows on Feb. 4 after they noticed it had been at the North Main Street Walmart parking lot for several weeks.

Moss was reported missing by her family in Seaside on Nov. 21, 2015, according to Seaside police, but efforts to find her were unsuccessful.

Salinas police say they believe Moss died several weeks prior to being found by security. But it remains unclear exactly how many weeks, or months, had passed since she died.

Authorities have not yet confirmed her cause of death, but Salinas Police Cmdr. Vince Maiorana says her death does not appear to be suspicious.

In Seaside, efforts to find Moss were made by posting flyers throughout the Monterey Peninsula and notifying neighboring police departments about her disappearance, Seaside Police Cmdr. Judy Stradan says.
