Tassajara Fire damage

Where the first burned especially fast and hot up slopes, it leaves hardly anything behind except ash and tree stubble. Firefighters call this "moonscaping."

Residents living outside the perimeter affected by the Tassajara Fire were allowed back into their homes Monday afternoon.

At 3pm, the evacuation orders and advisories were lifted for all residences and locations outside of the fire perimeter, which include:

  • Cachagua Road east of Parrot Ranch Road, Trampa Canyon area (Trampa Road, Trampa Canyon), Sky Ranch Estates Road, Gates Road, Buckeye Circle, Madrone Road.
  • Parrot Ranch Road, Laurel Springs Road, Oak Road, Buckeye Road, Tassajara Road south of the fire perimeter to Jamesburg.
  • Carmel Valley Road, from Cachagua Road to Hastings and Martin Roads.
  • Tassajara Road north of the fire perimeter to Carmel Valley Road.

Road closures will also be moved and staffed at the following locations:

  • Cachagua Road at Madrone Road.
  • Poppy Tree Lane at Buckeye Road.
  • Tassajara Road, east of Buckeye Road (Tassajara Road closed at fire perimeter to north traffic).
  • Tassajara Road, south of East Carmel Valley Road (Tassajara Road closed at fire perimeter to southbound traffic).
  • East Carmel Valley Road, south of Tassajara Road near fire perimeter will have one-lane traffic control due to fire equipment operating in the area.
