People's March Monterey

Roughly 200 people gathered at Window on the Bay in Monterey in January three days before President Donald Trump's second inauguration.

Hundreds of people are expected to take part in a mass political protest in Monterey and Salinas on Saturday, April 5.

The "Hands Off" event takes place from 11am-1pm at Window on the Bay, 717 Del Monte Ave., Monterey, and noon-2pm at the corner of Blanco Road and Main Street in Salinas.

Organizers report that over 500 people have RSVP'd for the Monterey event.

"In the face of injustice, silence is not an option," a flyer for the events states. "Stand up. Speak out and be the change."

The organizers say they are fighting for democracy, women's rights, LGBTQ+ freedom and dignity and migrants rights and inclusion.

The nationwide mobilization follows one week after a nationwide Takedown Tesla protest. Locally over 200 people protested in front of the Seaside Tesla dealership.

"The organizers say they are fighting for democracy, women's rights, LGBTQ+ freedom and dignity and migrants rights and inclusion." Everything but the kitchen sink kind of protest. Which basically means it is not really a protest. Too vague. Too ambiguous. Lumping everything into one. A protest like this loses its merit. Fighting for "democracy." Please define. What does this even mean. Fighting against a democratically elected president? Fighting against constitutionally granted rights vested in the seat of the executive branch. The left needs to get left behind. Times are changing. No one cares anymore.
