Memorial service for Ken Gray, longtime Marina City Councilman, to be held Oct. 25.

Ken Gray was known for his progressive vision in local land use policies.

Ken Gray, who served on Marina City Council from 2002 to 2010, passed away Oct. 11 at the age of 64. A memorial service to remember Gray will be held at 10am on Oct. 25 at the Marina United Methodist Church.

"He changed the history and direction of the city," says Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado, who worked closely with Gray for years on government and land use issues. "There was really no group in town that didn't appreciate Ken while he was leading our city. No one would have anything but good things to say about him."

A State Parks employee for 36 years until he retired in 2009, Gray was instrumental, Delgado says, in the passage of Measure E in 2000, which established an "Urban Growth Boundary" in Monterey County.

RSVP's are requested for the memorial service, and can be sent to Jeanie Sturges at js99b@aol.com. Those wishing to give in Gray's memory are asked to donate to Thomas Carman Food Pantry of Marina or the Central Coast Lighthouse Keepers in Carmel.
