King City City Council holds closed session to talk about search warrant.

King City City Council spent two hours on Monday afternoon behind closed doors, holding a performance review of City Manager Michael Powers. 

But Mayor Robert Cullen indicated that although the meeting had been noticed as a performance review—which is one of a few allowable exceptions to California's public meetings rules, known as the Brown Act—City Council was actually there to talk about a search warrant. 

“We are discussing the city manager's evaluation, which includes the search warrant,” Cullen said in brief opening remarks.

The search warrant is sealed from public view, and was served on Powers at City Hall on May 14.

It's part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and other charges against current and former police officers. Six officers, including the acting and retired chief, and one civilian, the acting chief's brother, were arrested on Feb. 25.

After two hours of discussion, City Attorney Roy Hanley said there was no reportable action.
