The plentiful marine life and soft, blue glow that attracts millions of visitors to Monterey is now just a mouse-click and computer screen away since the popular Google Street View software allows viewers a full walking tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
With this technology, the Aquarium now joins other historic locations on Street View like the White House, the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, St. Mark’s Square in Venice, the Gálapagos Islands, the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Diego Zoo.
In the 30 years since the Aquarium’s opening, nearly 200 galleries and living exhibits have shown wondrous sea creatures, which include the largest jellyfish collection, a two-story exhibit of sea otters and a million-gallon Open Sea exhibit with sea turtles, hammerhead sharks, tunas.
The newest exhibit is "Tentacles," which opened earlier this year.
