'Spooky chef' version of chef Chad

Long the Weekly readers' vote for Best Place to Splurge and a contender for Best Restaurant, Pacific's Edge has named a replacement for Matthew Bolton, who bolted for a different view of the Pacific at the Intercontinental's C Restaurant on Cannery Row.

And my appetite already likes this new guy. Here's why.

New Executive Chef Chad Minton has the kind of fine dining resume you want to crumple up and eat with a little olive oil and sea salt.

He started at Shoreline Grill at the Four Seasons in Austin, Texas before He relocated to San Francisco where he worked at the Ritz-Carlton under Chef de Cuisine Gary Danko.

He earned him a promotion to the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta and again to dining room sous chef under Chef de Cuisine Olivier Gaupin

At the Ritz Carlton's Mobile Five Diamond Marina Del Rey property, he later ascended to executive chef, the only one in the company’s history to work his way up from apprentice to top toque.

There he also earned a nod from Michelin for his restaurant, Jerne.

Then there's the real reason I'm hungry to see what this guy can do: The press release announcing his arrival included a "spooky chef" version of his PR picture.

Maybe he's in love with oncoming Halloween or has a serious thing for deviled eggs.

I'm taking it as indication the guy knows how to dismiss the status quo and have some fun in an industry that can always use more of it.
