Asking questions is good. It can also be exhausting. Thankfully there's help.

Conscious eaters have long known smart sourcing of product is of paramount importance.

But servers and other staffers might not always have the answers about who or how their fish or meats were raised, or furnish entirely truthful ones.

That's where Seafood Watch tools come in, and they include a lot more than the Seafood Watch smartphone app, as I describe with this week's column "A Seafood Watch chef summit generates good news for suffering oceans."

One major tool: running lists of collaborating restaurants. Since they work closely with the Seafood Watch team to select fish from the best choices list, diners can order freely while knowing any choice will be totally sustainable.
