After a one-week delay due to rain, the inaugural Monterey Bay Skate Fest took place on Saturday, March 8 at Cutino Park in Seaside.

The event drew skaters of all ages and all skill levels, bringing people together to show off their skateboarding tricks and join in the celebratory spirit of skateboarding culture.

Angel Ortega from San Jose won Best Trick Skate; Salinas' Mitch Wood won the Game of Skate.

About 100 participants attended the first-ever community skateboard festival. Organizers say they hope to plan future similar events. Skateboarder Adrian Castillo Jimenez teamed up with the nonprofit Wahine Project and others to host the Monterey Bay Skate Fest.
