The first-ever Pacific Grove lottery for the city's lone retail cannabis license will take place at 5pm Monday, March 30 inside City Council Chambers, 300 Forest Ave., the city announced on Wednesday, March 4. The lottery will also be viewable online.

Ten businesses are eligible for the lottery, despite objections that arose over eight of the 10 being from essentially one company, Off the Charts.

The eight applications were for a location at 1157 Forest Ave. A separate company also submitted an application for that address. Another company submitted a petition for 1169 Forest Ave.

The city issued a memo on Feb. 26, stating that "nothing in the City's licensing process prohibits the alleged affiliation with a common entity," as was stated in a letter from an attorney representing the property owner at 1169 Forest.

The memo also states that all 10 applicants were notified on Jan. 5 of their eligibility to move forward to the lottery and that there was a 10-day appeal period, but no appeals were filed.
