Montage Health Sign

Montage Health Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Matt Morgan announced on Wednesday, June 25 that he is leaving the nonprofit health care organization after 19 years. His last day is Aug. 7.

It's the first major executive change since the transition from former Montage CEO Dr. Steve Packer to Dr. Mike McDermott, who took over on March 21.

Morgan is leaving Montage for another unnamed health care system in California, a spokesperson says.

In a written statement released on June 26, the organization announced "with gratitude" that Morgan was leaving. "His dedication and leadership have profoundly shaped our community and organization," it said.

"We are committed to ensuring a smooth and thoughtful transition during this time," it concluded. Details about the search for his replacement will be announced in the coming weeks.

In an internal message from Morgan to employees obtained by the Weekly, Morgan said his news comes with a mix of emotions. He called his 19 years with Montage "incredible." (Montage Health was originally called the Community Hospital Foundation, until 2016.)

"This was not an easy choice. Montage has been more than just a workplace for me—it's been a community, a calling, and a place where I've grown in ways I never could have imagined," he said.

He said he is committed to a smooth transition, adding: "I have every confidence in the strength of our leadership team and the incredible talent across this organization to continue moving forward with purpose and momentum."
