Concours 2025

Unmark your calendars, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will take place a week earlier starting in August 2028.

Officials issued an announcement to local media outlets on Thursday, Aug. 21 after first briefing Concours volunteers and the directors of other Car Week events. For some 30 years, the world’s finest collector cars have rolled across the Pebble Beach lawn in the third Sunday of the month. The move will place Concours on the second Sunday going forward.

“We want to get the word out early because so many other events and businesses make plans in relation to the Concours,” Chair Sandra Button explained in a press statement.

According to Button, the decision was made because schools across the country are starting earlier. Judges, volunteers and Concours entrants in particular, as well as spectators, have been impacted by the conflict. In recent years, requests for an earlier date for the premier automotive showcase from those with families have increased.

“A simple move forward by one week lessens the conflict for many,” Button said.

The change—at least in terms of the Pebble Beach event—may not be jolting. Concours will be held on Aug. 16, 2026 and Aug. 15, 2027. The 2028 event will take place Aug. 13. But the calendar progression will place it on Aug. 11 in 2030.

Given that Car Week currently extends over 10 days, that means the first events will happen at the beginning of August—if they choose to also move ahead by a week.

This is not the first time Concours has jumped around the calendar. The inaugural 1950 event was held in November. During the ’50s, it was scheduled for dates in spring and summer, becoming a spring fixture until 1967, when it landed in August.
