Arthritis ride

Riders on the Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bike Tour roll through the Rec Trail in Monterey on Monday, Sept. 28 on their way to Los Angeles from San Francisco.

More than 250 cyclists pedaled around Monterey on Monday, Sept. 28, all united under one cause: to raise funds and awareness for those living with arthritis.

The Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bike Tour began on Saturday, Sept. 26 in San Francisco, where cyclists made the trek to Santa Cruz. They made their way to Monterey the following day, and on Monday, they rode a 30-mile loop around the Peninsula.

The eight-day, 525-mile journey ends on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Los Angeles.

The cyclists have so far raised nearly $1.1 million. Their goal is $1.3 million for the Arthritis Foundation, which supports arthritis research and programs for those living with the condition.
