A year after shutting down in the aftermath of the Moss Landing Power Plant battery fire, The Haute Enchilada, a gallery and restaurant in Moss Landing, reopened on Feb. 12 with limited hours and pared-down offerings.
“This is an intimate, casual counter-service offering—designed for those who appreciate something a little more personal, a little less public, and intentionally unhurried,” owner Kim Solano says via email. The venue also offers private events, an art gallery and Airbnb stays.
The gallery features artwork by more than 50 regional artists and offers private viewings and seasonal meet-and-greets with the artists.
The Haute Enchilada closed down indefinitely on Feb. 21 last year after the battery plant fires in January and February of 2025 in Moss Landing.
In February 2025, Haute Enchilada co-owners Kim Solano and Luis Solano filed a federal lawsuit against Vistra, the Dallas-based energy company that owns and operates the battery energy storage facility.
The lawsuit stated that the Solanos' business and property were greatly impacted by the fires, and that their business was reduced by half once they reopened.
The case remains pending as the court considers which cases against Vistra (and other entities) should be treated as related to minimize court time and expense in considering similar, duplicative claims.
