Attention ladies and—especially—gentlemen. It is not too late to come to the Paper Wing Theatre & Supper Club to familiarize oneself with A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, an adorable show made with a crew of local actors and directed by Justin Gaudoin.

This musical comedy macabre is something you don’t want to miss out on. Meet Monty Navarro (portrayed by the wonderful Brian Steen-Larsen), who finds out he is actually a member of the rich and famous D’Ysquith family. This knowledge, and the injustice from being excluded from the family wealth, changes him into a true monster.

Steen-Larsen is a good singer, too. But it’s Hunter Powers, playing virtually the whole D’Ysquith family, who steals the show. He is equally hilarious as a reverend, a young earl, an old lady with charity ambitions and an annoying diva-like actress.

Sarah Gaudoin is entertaining as Monty's first love, corrupted and cynical Sibella Hallward, as well as Lyla Englehorn playing a fairylike Miss Shingle, who puts the whole ordeal in motion, informing her nephew Monty that he is a D’Ysquith. Dance scenes (choreography by Sarah and Justin Gaudoin) are amazing and the supporting cast does a great job, at times serving as the ancient chorus that makes the show even funnier and livelier. Costumes are great, too (Yvonne Hildenbrand Bowen).

The show comes with—or without—an Edwardian/Victorian dinner. If you decide to dine, you will also receive a special photograph (choose between many fun accessories, such as fake mustaches and various hats) in a festive little folder. Food, served buffet-style, is also designed just for the show; in this case chicken thighs, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables as a center. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options are available.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. 8pm (dinner at 6pm) on Fridays and Saturdays. 3pm Sundays. Until April 19. $35; $79 with dinner. 711 Cannery Row Suite i, Monterey. 905-5684, paperwing.com.
