Three dead in Salinas shooting on Monday.

Three people, including a 17-year-old, were shot and killed Monday night outside an apartment complex in Salinas.

About 9:30pm officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 700 block of Elkington Avenue. They found found Brando Lerma, 22, and Brianna Gossett, 20, fatally shot inside a parked car.

Bryan Hernandez, 17, of Salinas was found in the parking lot outside the car and was taken to the trauma center at Natividad Medical Center where he died shortly after arriving.

Salinas Police Commander Vince Maiorana says Gossett and Hernandez may have been involved in a romantic relationship and had intended to visit a friend at the apartment complex with Lerma.

The shooting occurred when they parked the car.

Both Lerma and Gossett were Henderson, Nevada residents and Maiorana says it appears they had been living in their car for some time.

Maiorana would not go into detail, but says there are signs that show the triple homicide was gang-related. He says some items found at the scene suggest gang activity, as well as the neighborhood.

There is little suspect information at the moment, and police urge witnesses to contact them at 758-7971 to help solve the case.

The three deaths mark the city's 25th, 26th and 27th homicides so far this year.
