It didn't bring in the same thousands of people as the No Kings and Hands Off protests that took place earlier this year, but the Rage Against the Regime demonstration that took place in Monterey on Saturday, Aug. 2, brought a similar energy seen at larger events.
Several hundred people lined Del Monte Avenue at Window on the Bay to protest President Donald Trump and his administration's policies that afternoon, joining thousands of protests across the country.
There were the usual protest signs and flags, along with a large inflatable Trump figure and a DJ spinning danceable tunes. A similar protest took place earlier in the day in Salinas.
And while the Hands Off protest in April was heavy on criticism of Elon Musk while he was still involved in the Department of Government Efficiency at that time and June's No Kings saw protests sparked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions in Los Angeles, the similarly peaceful Rage protest included plenty of commentary about Trump and the now infamous Jeffrey Epstein client list.
"He IS the list," one sign read.
The next national protest is scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, sponsored by May Day Strong, in support of unions and people's right to unionize. Local protests are planned for that day in Salinas and Monterey, with details to come.

The protesters are trying to stop authoritarianism from creeping into our lives. None of the passion of the protestors feel are reflected in this article.
