For those looking to reduce their carbon footprint for Earth Day and also stay dry during this stint of April showers, Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) is offering fare-free rides system-wide, all day Wednesday, April 22.
“Caring for our planet starts with caring for our community,” said MST CEO and General Manager Carl Sedoryk. “When we choose transit, we’re choosing cleaner air, less congestion and a healthier future for everyone. Earth Day is the perfect moment to celebrate that.”
According to a statement from the transportation agency, by offering free fares in honor of Mother Earth, MST wants to inspire Monterey County residents to leave their cars in the garage for a day and remind them that choosing public transit over driving can add up to meaningful change.
“Whether commuting to work, heading to school, or running errands," the statement reads, "riders can hop on board knowing they’re contributing to a greener, more connected community.”
